Mom's Famous Carrot Muffins

1.5 cps brown sugar
1.5 cps vegetable shortening
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
2 tsp lemon juice
2 tsp water

Sprinkle slivered almonds on grated carrots.
Cream shortening and brown sugar.  Fold in carrots, Beat eggs separately from lemon juice & cold water and add alternately
with flour, soda, and baking powder
Bake at 350* for 30-35 minutes
