- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 1/2 pounds beef, sirloin tip or round, cut in thinly sliced 2-inch strips
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/3 cup chopped onion
- 1 1/2 green bell peppers, cut in strips
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 beef bouillon cube or equivalent granules or base
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
In a skillet, melt butter; add beef strips and sprinkle with garlic powder. Sauté, stirring occasionally, until browned. Remove meat from skillet; add onion and green bell pepper and sauté for 2 minutes. Return meat to the skillet along with tomatoes and bouillon cube. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes if using the sirloin tip cut, 15 to 20 minutes if using round steak. Blend together the cornstarch, water, soy sauce, sugar, and salt. Add to meat mixture and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Reduce heat and cook for 2 minutes longer. Serve over rice or noodles.
