Greek Kourabiedes

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons brandy
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped almonds
  • 2 - 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • Sifted powdered sugar for rolling

In mixer bowl cream together the butter and the 1/2 cup powdered
sugar.  Add the egg yolk, brandy and vanilla; mix well.  Stir in the
almonds.  Stir together the flour and baking powder. Blend into sugar
mixture.  Wrap and chill dough for 30 minutes.  Form dough into 1-inch
balls or ovals.  Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake at 325 over
20-25 minutes or until light brown.  Cool on wire rack.  Roll in
additional powdered sugar.  Makes 3 1/2 to 4 dozen.
