Tamari sauce is similar to Soy Sauce, but not as salty. It can be found by the Soy Sauces in the Supermarket. We like the San-J brand.
The honey adds a little sweetness to the marinade.
Prep time: 10 - 15 minutes, plus time to marinate
Cook time: 10 - 15 minutes, depending on thickness of london broil and desired temperature.
Preheat grill or broiler for low heat.
1 Large London Broil (1 1/2 to 2 lbs.)
1/3 cup olive oil
2 tbs. honey
1-2 tps. minced garlic (or 2-3 fresh cloves, crushed)
1/2 cup of Tamari Sauce
Mix the olive oil, honey, garlic, and tamari sauce together, and put in a zip-lock bag. Place the London broil in the bag with the mixture, and allow to marinate in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours or overnight. You can adjust the quantities if you want additional marinade left over to serve as a light gravy.
Remove London broil from bag and place on a few layers of heavy-duty foil, with edges turned up to prevent marinade from spilling into broiler or on to grill. Drizzle marinade over the London broil. (Add more marinade if needed during cooking.)
Grill or broil London broil until desired done-ness, flipping once. Cook on low heat.
Remove from heat. Let London broil sit for a few minutes to allow juices to settle before slicing.
Carefully spoon remaining marinade from foil over the sliced London broil.
Serve with vegetables and either baked potatoes or rice.
